The Invisalign Difference

Invisalign are invisible and removable, unlike highly visible and inconvenient traditional braces. Invisalign typically can have full effect within 6 to 18 months, which is shorter than traditional braces.
Invisalign consists of a series of clear, plastic trays made from computer-generated models of the teeth. We do the impressions and photographs in-office, and then these are passed on to the Invisalign laboratories. They complete the series of aligner trays and return them to us. Each set of trays typically are used for two weeks. Oftentimes the last tray will be used as your retainer.
Simply 5
Another type of available treatment is called Simply 5. The main difference between this and Invisalign is that treatment involves using simply 5 trays, instead of 10 or 24. Again impressions and photographs are taken in-office, and then the trays are made. Because this treatment involves using only 5 trays, it’s not for full orthodontic treatment. This is the ideal treatment for less complex cases which would only require smaller adjustments.
Traditional bracket orthodontics can cause minor tissue trauma to the gums and enamel. Invisalign and Simply 5 are gentler approaches to orthodontic treatment. Invisalign can be used for almost any orthodontic problem. Our practice uses it mostly for treatment of post-orthodontic relapse to gently restore teeth that have shifted out of place.
